ZigZag quilt
I can finally show you the quilt I have been making for Grace, this is one of those that has taken me almost 2 years to do. It is finally done and I do not think I have any more old UFO's. I wanted to take better pictures but my helper is at work so here it is.
This is the overall design. It started as a regular zigzag quilt but I had the feeling it needed something fun, so after lots of thinking, a visit to the quilt shop, and looking on the web; I decided to add some flowers. I made the flowers based on circles I first did the four small ones that are 9" in diameter, then I realized they where way to small for the quilt so I went for a big 15' diameter to try to balance.
The quiling process was very interesting. The only Idea I had was to stitch in the ditch but I really did not want to do it, then Darlette suggested to quilt 1/4" from the ditch on both sides. I took this picture above when I just had that done.
After another visit to Gracie Lou's I found that they had a zigzag baby quilt that they have quilt filled every other row. I really like the texture and the filling so I went for it doing only all the white rows. Then I free motion quilt the flowers, They are kind of wonky but I like the look.

At last I quilt the border with a template I have. You might see it on the last two pictures The last one is a picture of the back to see better the detail of the quilting done. The bias is the same green as the center of the flowers.
Happy quilting!

Teacher's appreciation week
This last week was teacher's appreciation week and Darlette went overboard with her present for Cosey's Kinder teacher:
She got the sharpies at Costco and then created this beautiful case, I want to be her teacher LOL!

Ready for spring Tops
Ok, first of all I will tell you why I have been posting for Darlette lately, her computer is giving her a hard time uploading pictures, so she has asked me to do it for her.
Now the tops, she made this cute tops for her girls using elastic thread and tutti-fruity fabric from Joann. Tutti-fruity material is kind of tricky to use, and she reports that it works really good gor this kind of garment.

Happy Summer Quilt
Darlette has been very busy creating all sorts of beautiful things. One of her most recent creation is this set of wall hanging and table runner using Frolic by Moda. I love the combination of embroidery and quilting she did.
She machine quilted by herself and she is loving it! I think she did a wonderful job.
