Elisabeth

We have been so blessed with wonderful women in our lives. One of them is Elisabeth, I met her some 12 years ago and our ties are bigger than life. She has always been a great inspiration to me she and her girls introduced me first to scrap booking and later to quilting. I made my very first quilt with her. We had the opportunity to see her in Idaho for Miss M's birthday and I asked her for a picture with us. I love her, she is amazing.

Miss G

Miss G turn 4 this weekend. Last Friday I started sewing a Hat for her using this tutorial. I bought enough material to make for all girls using Sweet Water fabric; the other material was a repurpuse a kaki skirt that I ruined with a highlighter. Miss G saw the material and asked me "mommy are you making me a dress too" So I felt very obligated to make her a dress. so here is the result:
I love the picture Miss G had no problem posing for me!

Have a great day!

CSA Farms

Last time Darlette came to visit she asked me if I know of a place where she could buy organic meat or grass grown beef. At that time I couldn't give her an answer. Yesterday Hubby brought a flyer advertising Roberts Ranch I went to check it out and found out that is part of the CSA farms project to bring organic foods to people.
I also found this video PBS documentary Food Inc. and Nation wide you can find local farmers at local farmers.org great place to find quality food.
On the other hand and talking about gardening. I planted all my tomato plants (13) Bell peppers (7) Jalapenos (6) zucchini, and spaghetti squash. I hope to plant the rest when the weather gets better.
Cheers,
Erika

Art Gallery B-Day Party

Last Saturday we had an Art Gallery party for Cosey. We ate a rainbow of fruits, cake and cookies.

To be safe I made an apron for each of the guest with their names embroidered. It was part of the favors.

3rd a clay sculpture of a Bird

Tercero hicimos una escultura de un pajarito.

4th we had face painting and 5th we took pictures with an old frame.

I made this cookies for the party.
Hice estas galletas para la fiesta.

And this little cupcakes for the parents, and the big cupcakes for Cosey's school class on Monday.

Mini quilt

Last week I made this cute mini quilt for my future nephew. I used some brown and blue minky, and part of a charm pack from Lily and Will by Moda. The pink fabric will be for a mini quilt for KayLee.
To be honest I did not like working with a mix of knits and cotton it was a pain, but the end result is worth the battle. I quilted it using the lollipop design by Leah.

Saludos,
Erika

Warming Up

On black Friday, I found this fabric on sale (regular 19.99 /yard) so I got 1/2 yard to make some ear warmers and scarfs.
I made one ear warmer for my DH and each of the girls and a scarf for Cosey and me. At the end each piece was $1, No bad.

I embroidered a snow flake on the girl's ear warmers with her names

Cosey
Cami Andy
And some Snowman on the scarf.
(No embroideries on DH's)

Have a wonderful day

Busy?

Well busy is an understatement of our situation over our homes. At the end of October Darlette and I decided to join Elizabeth Hartman's Tokyo subway quilt along. One of the great things is that my dear sis and I love the same things and we decided to share our scraps to make the quilt more interesting. So we technically started when Elizabeth just finished showing the last two blocks of 25. The construction of the blocks is really not difficult what makes it a challenge is when you add a helpful 5 year old, a curious 3 year old, and a always needy 8 month old baby (oh yes, and 3 visits to the dentist this last week). So some days I just can sew a line, some others I could do as many as four blocks. In short, I am on block 21 of 25, hoping to finish some time soon but next week looks as busy as it ever could, (one more dentist trip, one doctor's checkup for baby and big sis and a trip to meet BIL to send goodies to sis and then Thanksgiving, and black Friday, any thing else?).

I decided to make this quilt for many reasons but mostly because it means a lot to my hubby, you see he lived in Japan for more than 12 years and even though he spend most of his time in the Osaka-Kyoto area, Japan is Japan and is very dear to him.
Okay that is my side of the story.
Darlette's story goes like this: besides the Tokyo subway quilt, she decided to make quilt for her family for Christmas, two queen and two tween size quilts! so she is working on all of them at the same time.. you see no much to show you just lots and lots of work and nothing done aggh!
I hope you are less busy than us...

'till next time

A Little Something for My DH

A few weeks ago I found a picture on the web about a nice project and I loved it, specially because I could make one for my DH. So I made this.

He is going to Texas on a trip next week and I found this useful, Maybe he will say it is too fancy for a tie, but I don't care.

Have a wonderful Weekend
