Miss G

Miss G turn 4 this weekend. Last Friday I started sewing a Hat for her using this tutorial. I bought enough material to make for all girls using Sweet Water fabric; the other material was a repurpuse a kaki skirt that I ruined with a highlighter. Miss G saw the material and asked me "mommy are you making me a dress too" So I felt very obligated to make her a dress. so here is the result:
I love the picture Miss G had no problem posing for me!

Have a great day!

Did you see the spring?

Hi, Can you believe is June already? Time just flies, besides that have you seen the spring this year? We haven't. Today on the news they said that May was the wet-est May ever recorded in Utah! and not only in here but all around the US the weather has been cold and wet.

We start planting our garden at the beginning of May. We planted tomatoes some bell peppers and jalapenos. Later we add the cucumbers, zucchini, and tons of tomatillos for green salsa (hubby's favorite) the last to plant were the cantaloupe and the watermelon. with an additio of 24 more tomato plants from nice neighbors. :) That has kept me busy not to mention all the rest of the garden.

The news mention that on Memorial Day (Monday) many places in the state had snow. People in Alta (sky resort) were having a few new inches of powder!. I hope summer can come soon. The plants appreciate the rain, but farmers and ranchers around the state surely don't need their lands under water. Please pray for those in flood danger zones. As hot weather arises the snow in the mountains defrost and keeps the state in emergency flood alert.
I hope you have a great June!

More cookies

Since Darlette made cookies for Cosey's presentation the twins asked mom if she would make some for their preschool song presentation. So there Darlette went to make cute cookies each referred to a song for the twins and here I show them to you.
Have you seen a bear with such cute underware?

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

CSA Farms

Last time Darlette came to visit she asked me if I know of a place where she could buy organic meat or grass grown beef. At that time I couldn't give her an answer. Yesterday Hubby brought a flyer advertising Roberts Ranch I went to check it out and found out that is part of the CSA farms project to bring organic foods to people.
I also found this video PBS documentary Food Inc. and Nation wide you can find local farmers at local farmers.org great place to find quality food.
On the other hand and talking about gardening. I planted all my tomato plants (13) Bell peppers (7) Jalapenos (6) zucchini, and spaghetti squash. I hope to plant the rest when the weather gets better.
Cheers,
Erika

Crazy Weather

Nothing like the crazy Utah weather, Friday and Saturday we enjoy this:
Seeds germinating yay!
Semillas germinando yay!
Daddy and girls making their versoin of "butterfly catchers"

Flowers blooming,
Flores abriendo, and baby girl tryed her first sandals, something new and interesting to her.
On Sunday we woke up with no power and lots of this:
Crazy!

Enjoy your day!

What makes this b-day the best?

That was the question my hubby asked me after my answer Saturday night. And it wasn't because he gave me an expensive gift, or I had a birthday party, or anything like that. It was because I got the best thing, love from the people I care about.
Every thing started with this...
A few days before He and the girls started acting kind of suspicious. suspicious cute. At first Grace came to me and we had a little conversation like this:

Grace: Mammy, I just want to tell you that we do not have a birthday present for you, daddy bought some chocolates for you but he try them and they were all bad so he throw them to the garbage.
Me: ok (now I know what is my gift) it's ok Grace. I am sure daddy will have something for my birthday.

Two days before hubby came with this (see pic) singing Happy pre-birthday to you. I thought it was crazy and cute.

The next day Grace comes again says kind of the same thing about the chocolates.
me: It is ok Grace Daddy gave me a can with chocolates last night thank you.
Grace: oh no mammy, there is more chocolates for you more!
Hubby: Grace quiet is a surprise.
Alana: we are not planning any thing mammy, we are just planning... Kaylee's birthday (which was a month ago)
me: ok (thinking this is cute)

So until my birthday I had little people and hubby "secretly" planning mommy's birthday. That was the best thing to me. To see the excitement form Alana and Grace and Making tons of pictures and gifts for mommy.

Then my dearest sister send me this beautiful painting. Maybe you do not know this but she has been painting since we were in High School and usually making and giving away her creations, since that time I have asked her for a painting and finally it's here. It was worth the wait. She is so talented I wished I could have a bit of her talent.

I also receive lots of phone calls from family and friends and emails. That made the day so special. and since I was so sick with the cold just a low key birthday celebration was the perfect thing for me.
Isn't she awesome? here is the "original" model.

Have a great week

I am still here

Hi, I am still here.
It has been so long. Many things happened, we moved, baby birthday and lots of packing and unpacking. I am still unpacking so I do not have anything to show, and who knows when I will be able to start sewing again...
For now just a simple Hi.

A lunch bag for Alana

This week has been a hard one. On Monday I spend all day cleaning after family visit. just to end the rest of the days cleaning after my girls illness. washing sheets twice a day is not my idea of spending my day. Grace was first on Tuesday and last night was Alana's turn. Is not fun to have sick kids.
Do you remember this post? I love it so much that Darlette offer me to make one for Alana's b-day if I give her all the material, so I got the material from the new Bliss from Moda. The green is Kona solids.
Our Alana is 5 now and ready for school (too bad we have to explain to her that she has to wait 10 more months :( !) :(

Totally unrelated 2

Yes again talking about something totally unrelated to crafting but something that is keeping me excited this days. It is about shopping wise, what? yes shopping but in a different way. I am always looking for ways to get more for my bucks and to do so I have try many things. Last April when Monika came to visit I asked her to teach me how to do the coupon-ing she is amazing on that you can visit her blog and see the crazy things she gets for almost nothing.
She gave me a few websites that I found very helpful like this, and this, and this one too. I found that my local news paper has this gal called the savvy shopper and is totally local I love it!. I am learning lots about coupons and the best way to use them. One rule she said is always buy on sale and better if using coupons, never pay full price. I am still working on it but when I see that I save $40 to $80 on my trips I start liking the coupon thing.
Besides coupons which they do not offer much produce options anyway Darlette told me about a co-op program that is getting very popular in the west part of the country called Bountiful Baskets
It is an amazing program basically you pay $15 and they give you $50 worth of produce %50 fruits and %50 vegetables. It is amazing, last Saturday I went to pickup mine and here is the picture of what I got: Fruits: Bananas, apples, strawberries, plums, melon, and grapes.
Vegetables: Chard, lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, onions, and carrots.
All for just $15, all the produce is first grade and wonderful to work with. So this is my totally unrelated post of the day.

Make it a great day!

Making Doghnuts

A few days ago the girls wanted to bake something, well we ended making doughnuts just for fun. The recipe is an old one from one of my aunts and I wasn't sure it was going to work. they turn out OK. We had enough to share at DH office.

Sorry no pictures of the finished doughnuts.

The current project and the next project

As you may know my current project is the Christmas BOM from Helen at Hugs & Kisses I got all the materials for it as soon as I received the package from Australia. I showed you the first part I finished and I haven't dome much after that I am starting to go back on my crafting today (my sewing area is all clean). Here are the FQ I got for it. The patten asks for 10 FQs, but I decided to add more light colors because the ones I had (in the middle) were almost the same value.

Now the reason I haven't done much lately is because we are no longer just four at home. Yes we are expecting a little one by the first part of March!. I have been feeling sooooo sick like a dog. I have no energy and I just try to keep up with the basics at home. Also my two little ones need so much from me that by the afternoon I am all done for the day. Now you know.

I mention a couple of posts ago that Darlette and I decided to make something from the book hubby gave me for my b-day. Here is what we are planning on making.

I thought that there was no place where I could find the nice Japanese fabric that they show on the book, so I decided to go for homespun fabric. Because we needed about 16 different fabrics, one store wasn't enough then I went to "The Corn wagon" a very nice quilt shoppe two towns north of home. On my way to the homespun section I glimpse Japanese looking fabric. I asked the attendant and she confirm it and look what I got. This fabric is so amazing and so is the price $18 a yard ouch! compared to the normal $8-$9 for the quilting designers fabric. The nice thing is that we are sharing the cost. Here is the fabric I got both the Homespun and the Japanese.

Fun Weekend

We had a very nice weekend. Darlette and her Family arrived late on Saturday quite exhausted, but the girl were not too much tired to run all over the house. Imagine 5 little ones running all over the place. It was nice to have a nice Sunday dinner with the family, Hubby made the most delicious barbecue ribs ever. I help with the rest. Today we say our goodbyes and hope to see them soon in their new place.
One great thing that happened is that Darlette restore my crafting desires. I was kind of blue for a few days...(weeks). and we have a new project we want o make together (more of that later).

Happy Monday
