Scripture Cover and Bag

Since the end of March we have seen the miracle of reading, yes that magical thing that happens sometime in Kindergarten and first grade. We have been working with miss A all the school year and it finally happened. While visiting Darlette we were reading the scriptures and it was miss A's turn and I told her to try to read and she did. She was so happy and excited that she wanted to keep trying, the next few days she got more excited about reading and I told her if she wanted to have her own scriptures, She said yes! so did miss G so I gave them each her own and I promise to make them a tote to take to Church. I was a few days late from Easter, but since I did not said it was their Easter resent it work out Okay.

I also decided to make them a book cover. I took the girls to the quilt shop and I let them choose one print (they both chose the hot pink fabric) and I complemented them with two more prints.

iPad Bag

Darlette made this bag for her iPad. Her hubby said it is a bit too big. I think it is Okay.

Darlette hizo esta bolsa ara su iPad, su esposo le parecio un poco grande para el aparato pero creo que esta bien.She used the most delish Bliss fabric.
Ella uso la tela de la line Bliss tan linda.

And Added some of her machine embroidery touch.
Y agrego un toque de bordado a maquina.

I like the way it turn out and the many compartments.
Me gusto como le agrego tantos compartimentos.
Even a zipper bag on the back.
Hasta un bolso con cierre en la parte trasera.
And adjustable handle...

Some time ago...

Wow as my last post says time goes fast. If I say I have been busy is an understatement I am still busy but getting more things accomplished. I had kind of a rush to finish things for my brother's wedding so next week I can show what I did.For now here is a kind of messenger purse I made some time ago with a cell phone holder.
Increible como pasa el tiempo, si les digo que he estado muy ocupada me quedo corta, sigo muy ocupada pero afortunadamente estoy terminando cosas, despues de tener que prparar todo lo que hice para la boda de mi hermano ya estoy mas tranquila y la proxima semana les mostrare. por ahora les muestro esta bolsa que hice hace algun tiempo y que no habia sacado foto con su bolsita para el celular..happy sewing

New Purse

Darlette made two purses to sell on our Etsy shop. They are very cute and very well made.
Darlette hizo dos bolsas como esta y las tiene en venta en nuestra tienda Etsy. Estan muy lindas y muy bien hechas.

Dancing Tote

Since Alana started her dancing classes I wanted to give her a tote so she could store all her dancing things there. then I came with and idea to make one on my own. I had all the fabric I just had to buy the zipper. I also wanted to use piping and because I just had done it once before I decided to look on the internet (my greatest teacher). I found this group of video tutorials very helpful. I also quilt all the bag.
Desde que Ala empezo sus clases de Balet he querido darle una bolsa para sus cosas y me llego la inspiracion de hacerle este bolso con zapatillas en aplique y usando piping, como solamente otra vez he hecho piping decidi reenforzar mis conocimientos y buscando en el Internet escontre este grupo de videotutoriales muy bueno. Ademas lo acolche todo.

My Japanese purse

After so much work here is my Japanese purse. I made it 90% by hand and that is why it took me so long. I am so happy with the results. The button I put on is from one spare button I had for a sweater I got some time ago.

Despues de mucho trabajo aqui esta mi bolsa japonesa. Esta hecha a mano al 90% es por eso que me tomo algo de tiempo pero estoy feliz con los resultados. El boton que le he puesto es de uno boton extra que venia en un sweater que compre hace tiempo.

Las fotos no son las mejores pues las tome ayer casi para anicheser y habia muchisima luz.

The current project and the next project

As you may know my current project is the Christmas BOM from Helen at Hugs & Kisses I got all the materials for it as soon as I received the package from Australia. I showed you the first part I finished and I haven't dome much after that I am starting to go back on my crafting today (my sewing area is all clean). Here are the FQ I got for it. The patten asks for 10 FQs, but I decided to add more light colors because the ones I had (in the middle) were almost the same value.

Como sabran estoy trabajando en el BOM de navidad de Helen de Hugs & Kisses y tan pronto como recibi el paquete compre las telas. Ya les mostre la primera parte pero no he hecho mucho desde entonces. aqui les muestro las telas que escoji, deberian de ser 10 pero aqui hay 12 porque las primeras que escoji las de enmedio estan muy cerca en valor asi es que compre dos mas claras.
Now the reason I haven't done much lately is because we are no longer just four at home. Yes we are expecting a little one by the first part of March!. I have been feeling sooooo sick like a dog. I have no energy and I just try to keep up with the basics at home. Also my two little ones need so much from me that by the afternoon I am all done for the day. Now you know.

Ahora la razon por la que no he hecho mucho es porque ya no somos solamente cuatro en casa. Sip, estamos esperando un bebe para la primera parte de Marzo! Me he estado sintiendo tan mal nada por las mananas mas que nada este bebe me esta exprimiendo todas mis energias, y me da un hambre que deberian de ver lo bueno es que con una fruta entre comidas apasiguo esta hambre que hasta me hace sentir nauceas y no se diga el sueno parece que todo el tiempo estoy lista para dormir. Ademas mis pequenas necesitan tanto de mi que solo me limito a atenderlas y mantener mi casa decente. para la tarde ya no tengo ganas ni para caminar. ahora ya saben por que ando inactiva.

I mention a couple of posts ago that Darlette and I decided to make something from the book hubby gave me for my b-day. Here is what we are planning on making.

I thought that there was no place where I could find the nice Japanese fabric that they show on the book, so I decided to go for homespun fabric. Because we needed about 16 different fabrics, one store wasn't enough then I went to "The Corn wagon" a very nice quilt shoppe two towns north of home. On my way to the homespun section I glimpse Japanese looking fabric. I asked the attendant and she confirm it and look what I got. This fabric is so amazing and so is the price $18 a yard ouch! compared to the normal $8-$9 for the quilting designers fabric. The nice thing is that we are sharing the cost. Here is the fabric I got both the Homespun and the Japanese.

Pense que no podia encontrar la tela Japonesa que presentan en el libro asi es que decidi comprar homespun. como necesitaba 16 tipos de telas, una tienda no fue suficiente asi es que fui a otra mas retirado de mi casa y me encuentro con la sorpresa de que tienen tela Japonesa; asi es que decidi comprarla. Lo unico malo es que esta tela es cara a $18 dollares la yarda (nisiquiera 1 metro) realmente dolio, pero estamos compartiendo los gastos. Aqui estan los dos tipos de telas la Japonesa y el homespun.

Wallets and a Giveaway

I had a hard time trying to think about a good title post. so maybe you will find out it has nothing to do what I am going to show you.
I have been trying to make some unique things to sell on my etsy store. I came up with an idea of a wallet with a check book space, cards space, coins and bills and I created this:

And this is the one I made for Monika for her birthday which is today. I send it to her last week and received on Friday, but she was a very good girl and opened her package this morning. She was so cute to call me and scream I love it! That was the best thank you I have received.
Este ultimo se lo hice a Monika para su cumpleanos que es hoy, se lo mande la semana pasada y lo recibio el viernes pasado pero ella como una muy buena nina abrio su paquete esta manana. Le gusto tanto que me hablo super temprano esta manana ritando cuanto le habia gustado.

In another note my MIL received her table runner and some pix of the girls and she called me on Saturday, She also like what I made for her! I think one of the best things that a crafter can receive is a grateful thank you from those recipients. It feeds or soul.
En otra nota mi suegra recibio el camino de mesa que le hice, y me llamo el sabado pasado para decirme que lo habia recibido junto con fotos de las ninas. Creo que lo mas lindo que uno puede recibir es el agradecimiento de las personas por lo que uno hace.

A new purse

One of my favorite things to have are purses, mom used to say that it was the only thing I wanted her to buy me and I haven't change at all. I still love purses. Many of you have seen Elizaneth's tutorial of her Margaret's purse. Well, I felt in love with it and decided to make one for myself and here it is:
